Southfield gun shop offering free range time to curb New Year's Eve celebratory gunfire

26 Dec 2013

(WJBK) - In efforts to discourage the random firing of guns into the air to celebrate the new year, Action Impact in Southfield is offering free time in the shooting range over New Year's Eve
Free range time will be available 10 a.m. Dec. 31, 2013 - 1 a.m. Jan. 1, 2014.

The owners hope people will choose this safer alternative.

"We're asking everybody to also participate in discouragement. It's dangerous. We've got bullets that are coming down, we don't know where they're coming down. And we also have people who are intoxicated or under the influence that are shooting those guns. It's very dangerous for our community. So this is our way of saying let's not do that. Don't do it on any day but don't do it on New Year's ," says William Kucyk, the owner of Action Impact.

Two days before New Year's Eve the shop will also stop selling range ammunition out the door.
